Baptism:  Baptism is the first of the sacraments of Christian Initiation, the others big Confirmation and First Communion.  Initiation into Christian beliefs, values, thoughts and behaviour begins in early childhood.  a Christian home is the ideal setting.  Parents who value their faith and Church membership would desire to ass on this faith to their children as much as they would seek the best schooling and medical care for them.

Flooding in Pakistan.  The distress that the people in Pakistan are enduring and the destruction caused by the catastrophic flooding cries out to all of us to help.  Here in Ireland,  we had our own experience of flooding last year which evoked a very quick and generous response,  as did the earthquake in Haiti. The flooding in  Pakistan has brought upon the people distress and destruction on a scale that is very difficult to comprehend.  Clean water. Food, shelter and medical  care, are needed urgently. The rebuilding of lives, homes communities infrastructure and services is a task which is almost overwhelming.  Archbishop Diarmuid Martin has authorised a special Collection this weekend  21st/22nd August.  This Collection will replace the SHARE Collection.  We are asked once again to appeal to  your generosity  to give these people relief and hope in their suffering.
